About the photographer
Solrose (sunflower in Swedish) - the favorite flower of owner and creative director Michelle Bexelius. Michelle began her photography/design career in Paris while studing fine art which led to her Bachelors Degree in Conceptual Design/Information Art in the Bay Area. Later, she worked in the high tech industry in San Franciso specializing in user interface design and art direction.

In 2001 Homegrown Photos opened for business after the birth of her first child. Michelle had dreamed of having a card company ever since she was a child herself. After designing her son's announcement, the idea became clear and soon many others were enjoying the unique designs with personal photos and creative type treatments all across the country. In 2006 Michelle decided to change not only the name of the business but the business model itself catering to the business sector. Solrose works directly with an eco-friendly printer that is wind powered and uses 100% recycled paper and soy/vegetable inks.

Photography has always been a passion and a creative outlet in several jobs that Michelle has done in the past from marketing to advertising to commercial. Now she focuses on portraits, weddings and product photography for new businesses starting out.
